David Messina, VP Marketing and Product Management, Xangati
David Davis of Train Signal has just released a new vSphere Performance video training course. That’s right – the David Davis who was also recently selected as the lead in Xangati’s VDI TV series.
Well, in between everything else, Davis has dedicated several months to developing this course – with the goal to make it the best single source for vSphere performance knowledge available. With Davis’ background and reputation, I’d venture to say that his video course will more than meet this expectation! And, at about one-tenth the cost of a typical classroom course, it packs great value with 14 plus hours of detailed and expert training.
The course includes 40 complete lessons on topics ranging from:
- where vSphere performance fits into the VCAP-DCA;
- properly tuning VM guest memory;
- utilizing VM guest hot add;
- vSphere capacity planning; and
- our own Xangati for ESX free edition!
You might say it covers an impressive amount of territory! You can click here to see a video demo and to view the complete course outline for yourself. Having seen pieces of the video myself, I can assure you that it’s well worth the time to take a look.
If you think about it, video training holds considerable appeal. With a video, you can easily rewind and review the particular segments that are the most relevant to you. You don’t need to worry about missing some critical piece of information, as you have all the information on record.
These precise capabilities are, in fact, what led Xangati to develop its own DVR-recording feature in all of our performance management solutions.
Our view is that seeing is believing – and understanding. By seeing you can gain knowledge and, through that knowledge, better understanding. This is true whether you’re talking about a video training course or – in Xangati’s case – the ability to video record a continuous view of your entire virtual infrastructure.
Xangati’s DVR-recording feature allows VI administrators to see continuous VM activity – or view into the entire VDI infrastructure – with an easy-to-use scrollbar for pausing, rewinding and replaying. This allows you to see the event or activity – in context – as it occurred – even if you weren’t sitting and watching the screen at that exact moment in time. And let’s be honest – how often does that happen?!!
Our DVR recordings are in a class all by themselves, and something we’ve received a lot of recognition for – from customers, our partners, market analysts and industry followers. As Kendrick Coleman writes, “The DVR recording feature is something that is truly unique to Xangati and sets it apart.”
While our DVR recordings provide incredible insight, we don’t stop there. We also make sure to extend that insight throughout the infrastructure for the most accurate troubleshooting and to ensure the highest performance. Xangati gathers and analyzes data feeds across all IT silos. You can see – and understand – the interplay between vSphere API stats, physical network stats, and virtual network stats – all in a single pane of glass. Our Performance Health Engine allows for a comprehensive picture of the entire VDI ecosystem with visible alerts as soon as any anomalies occur.
You can read and talk about the technology benefits all you want. But unless you can actually see and understand how it really works, you’re flying blindly. As David Davis wrote recently in Virtualization Review, “Xangati is one of the tools I want to make sure I have handy because I feel that it gives me insight around the virtual network that no other tool can (and at no cost!).”
We agree with David. But let’s not just talk about it! Download the free Xangati for ESX and see for yourself!
